Once you are done uploading your templates ALWAYS check the Amazon page to see if the desired changes have gone into effect.
They say it can take up to 24 hours but in my experience if you can’t see the changes within 15 minutes at most, they aren’t going to happen.
Within minutes of your template uploading you should be able to refresh the orphan page on Amazon.com and see that the orphan listing has been rejoined to the parent.
If your listing is still orphaned There are a few things that could be going on:
- You could be missing an anchor ASIN. Check out this post for more information on that.
- The brand names might not match. Make sure they’re exactly the same, they aren’t case sensitive but if they’re worded slightly differently that could be a problem.
- Your orphan is a duplicate. This is where applications like RevSeller come in handy. You need a way to view all in and out of stock variations listed under the parent to see if your orphan is really a duplicate. If that’s the case you’ll have to open a case(see what I did there?) and ask seller support to merge the listings.
- Sometimes the upload doesn’t work just because. I’ve gotten on the phone many times with the catalog team and they’ll say sometimes the system glitches, and the upload just doesn’t go through.
The last three will all require cases to solve. You can find case templates in my course- Dealing with Failed Uploads
